THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO SOME OF MY FAVORITE GOLF SWING PHOTOS OF GOLF'S FINEST BALL STRIKERS

Ben Hogan

Ben Hogan displaying one of golf's true secrets- holding shaft flex into impact

You know you are something special                Displaying the classic impact position
when you have your own name on                Bent Right Arm---Flat Left Wrist
your equipment                                                      Body rotating the club through impact

The differences in Hogan's swing from the 1930's to 1954 is evident here

Hogan's waggle was a masterpiece of engineering-- allowing him to feel the desired
rotation of the forearms and wrists into impact

Hogan showing the perfect inside approach to impact with the delayed wrists

This sequence taken from the Shell match against Sam Snead shows the essence of Hogan's swing and why his ball striking capabilities were consistent on a daily basis

These two photographs of Hogan flying up into the follow through are the end result of the perfect combination of path, technique and forces of the swing.
There is absolutely NO WAY that Hogan would be able to hold a glove or a towel under his armpits, and keep it in place as so many golf instructors of today insist on having their students do.
Take note of the clubface- perfectly aligned showing no rollover whatsoever...
This shows beautiful body and forearm rotation and acceleration to this point with the right arm fully extended and still accelerating to a vertical position-PERFECT

These two sequence photos-- PURE GOLD

Did Hogan lay the club off at the top like most people suggest?
These photos of the top of his swing show one vote for NO and one vote for YES
                                                        Which one is it?

How did Hogan create so much lag of the clubhead in his downswing?

95% of the golfing population pre release the clubhead and waste power and accuracy

Creating lag and using it to full effect in your swing
--- It's not as complex or as difficult as you might think ----------

Ben Hogan showing the correct way to release the golf club through impact

The magic swing of golfing legend Ben Hogan

Hogan again pressuring the shaft                   Hogan and his disappearing hands ....
        into the impact zone
Why does today's instruction insist on

steep vertical shoulders ?

LEE TREVINO

Trevino returning the club back to impact with spine tilt and knee flex on a  shallow inside approach with hands leading the clubhead

Trevino showing the perfect approach into impact......
Both Hogan and Trevino approached from this shallow path and it all equals up to  them both being regarded as the finest two ballstrikers in the history of golf.

Trevino exhibits beautiful foot work bringing the club low through impact
for ultimate control of the clubface in unison with his body

Trevino proving the backswing myth of golf
You can take the clubhead back any old way you like so long as you know
              the
correct path down and into impact and then beyond

Trevino using his knees and feet to full effect
NO stiff legged arm and hand slapping going on here as evidenced by the fantastic knee flex and preservation of the right arm into impact

Trevino showing textbook movements throughout the golf swing
Holding clubhead lag down from transition- ground pressure support-
   and
active body rotation through impact and beyond-- NO hand roll

TOM KITE

Tom Kite -----  The PGA Tour's long time leading money winner
A pure ball striker AGAIN showing inside approach with hands leading and
ground pressure knee flex and the  clubhead lagging
behind

fantastic rotational skills with NO independent hand release of the club

FLAT ENTRY            PINNED ARMS             BODY RELEASE

As Good As It Gets--- Do NOT fear the open clubface at this point

Two different views of Kite exhibiting pure impact and release protocols

###################################################

GREG NORMAN

Greg Norman was the most impressive driver of the golf ball with a persimmon club the game has ever seen. His swing was all about loading pressures into the body and the hands and releasing them in the correct sequence to combine power and accuracy.

If you don't believe the golf swing requires effort and exertion than look at the facial expressions of Norman in these two swings

Greg Norman  --- yet again we see the bent right arm on an inside approach with knee flex

Greg Norman from a down the line view

A fantastic illustration of the Norman right foot slide
This move is beyond compare showing the perfect alignment of ground
                            pressures
throughout the swing

It should not be a shock that other great golfers such as
      Ben Hogan
Gary Player, Billy Casper, Roberto DeVicenzo,
Byron Nelson, George Knudson and others

ALL used the same footwork principals in their swing.

WHY? WHY? WHY?-- did the golf instruction The Shark received in the 1990's insist on taking this foot move away from
his swing?

Because the people, who instructed him believed this foot slide was a problem of his blocked shot to the right under pressure situations. They were totally wrong because they themselves were unfamiliar with the tremendous intentions that were motivated by the foot action and thought it to be detrimental to the swing....

    And
therein lies the problem with observation based instruction...

Norman's footwork was pure... and helped him be the player he was....it hurt him in no way whatsoever

The
video of myself playing in Japan on Page 2 shows similar foot action.

This footwork totally disappeared from my swing once instruction got me all interested in the backswing and using the big muscles....

It was a tough lesson to learn but certainly
allows me to understand it better now and encourage the intentions behind this in all my students.

JIM FURYK

Jim Furyk- Everyone says his swing is ugly
I see it as a thing of beauty!!!

The Backswing- Furyk is living proof that it doesn't really matter

Furyk eliminates clubface turn over into and through impact better
than anyone else in the game today
That is why he has been a consistent tournament winner and money
                    making machine for the p
ast 15 years

Swing sequence of Jim Furyk from front on

Jim Furyk                            Full rotation release to the finish

Holding Shaft Flex to impact         From here we just fold to a finish

Perfect control of the club through the hitting zone and beyond

LOVE IT !!!!! The man is a genius

SERGIO GARCIA

Sergio Garcia showing exemplary swing plane throughout the swing

Sergio Garcia - Perfect impact release of the club
            He has always been a
tremendous driver of the golf ball

The approach to impact shows total control through the impact arena

Sergio Garcia- Loading the club for his approach to impact

Beautiful !!!.... Sergio shows all the correct intentions of pressures throughout the body and on the club to be a ball striking phenomenon
###################################################

PETER SENIOR

Peter Senior was a golfing dynamo. Often regarded as having an   ungainly looking golf swing, his ability to go low and win tournaments certainly showed nothing but a pure action.

   When I see Senior swing,
I see a person who has probably come closer to the swing ideals of Ben Hogan than any other golfer of our time.

Whilst relatively unknown outside his native Australia,  Senior has been a
prolific tournament winner in Australia capturing all the Major Events down under at least once. He also collected big titles in Europe and in Japan. He now plays the Champions Tour and should feature high in the finish of events out there.

The sequence above shows
classic entry and exit through the impact zone.

GARY PLAYER

Gary Player- 9 Major Championships- Completed the Grand Slam
What more needs to be said about this man
This is an outstanding golf swing... You don't just win as many events as                Player did from tenacity and a workout regimen alone

These photographs of Player show the perfect dynamics of the golf
       swing to ensure
power and precision for consistent play

It should come as no surprise that        Incredible control of the clubface
 Player comes from the
correct inside                through impact

path into impact

Gary Player's swing was a sensational combination of internal pressures and rotation in the correct sequence.

Did you know that the
'Player Walk Through' after impact was a result of the tremendous intentions of his swing?

It certainly was nothing to be ridiculed or laughed at as crazy
Gary Player knew EXACTLY what he was doing
###################################################

JOHNNY MILLER

Johnny Miller- He could shoot unbelievably low scores at will
        His
mechanics and dynamic motion above show how he did it

The golf swing is NOT a mystery when you know the right things about the swing and
know how to incorporate them into one flowing motion

                       Power- Dynamics- Control- PERFECT!!!

Johnny Miller- Down The Line View of a FANTASTIC golf swing

                               Johnny Miller- Face on View-
###################################################

NICK FALDO

Nick Faldo-  The theme of the great ball strikers is consistent

Faldo had all the correct attributes of the golf swing even at a young age.

       He rebuilt and
refined his leg drive which he felt hurt him.

    He
lost distance as a result but felt confident enough to play within his limitations and performed at a high standard for many years until the
power game took away his precision advantage

###################################################

JACK NICKLAUS

No swing library could be complete without the inclusion of the most prolific Major Championship winner in the history of golf- Jack Nicklaus

Jack Nicklaus showing the incredible golf swing that netted him
                                   18 MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Everyone said Nicklaus had an upright swing-SURE his backswing was

But this great overhead view shows his swing into the ball was perfect and far from being upright-- REMEMBER- the backswing is not the true essence of the golf swing

Club vertical with a full accelerating release
NO CHANCE of a towel or glove staying under those arm pits
###################################################

MICKEY WRIGHT

Great golf swings are not just limited to male golfers.
Ben Hogan described Mickey Wright as having the best golf swing he had ever witnessed.

Wright won 82 LPGA events including 12 Major Championships. She retired from golf at the age of 34 ...so one can only imagine how many more titles she would have won if she stretched her career out for a longer period of time.

Her golf swing was based around the same swing protocols that the great ball strikers of every era showed in their swing.

This magnificent golf swing shows that the correct sequence of the golf swing is not limited to size, shape or gender.

ANALYSIS OF THE GREAT BALL STRIKERS

Well here you have it- photographs of some of golf's greatest players

Whilst their
golf swings may look entirely different when viewed at full speed- the fact remains that their swing intentions and motivations are all eerily similar.

    Every person has different
leg strength - different hand strength- different body shape and flexibility- differences abound in everyone..

SO...why do instructors insist
on comparing your swing to the swing of other golfers and try to make you stick the golf club in static positions in a similar position to the players they compare you to?

No two golf swings can really be alike. The
physical capabilities and the internal pressures and the club and equipment differences make it impossible --- so you are being lead down the wrong path

I never try and make a student look the same as another golfer....

I base my teaching on the correct sequence of events and the correct internal feel and pressures related to making YOUR swing the best it can be... No guesswork...No band aid cures

If you want to reach your true potential as a golfer come learn from someone with the inside knowledge and personal tournament experience to help you in your quest....Come see me now...
